FOUNDATION v1.0: Successful Start to the Hottest New House Music Series
The first of the Foundation Series hosted by Live Nation and Blueprint couldn't have gone better in Vancouver, BC, this past weekend. Volume 1 of the series was thoughtfully curated with handpicked artists who complimented each other's sounds perfectly, featuring a diverse range of deep house, techno, and other electronica. Fans of house music (and it's spectrum of subgenres) will want to keep their eyes out for the next Foundation Volume 2, as the first one exceeded all expectations.
The gathering was intended to acknowledge "the underground foundations and building blocks upon which electronic music was built", and the PNE Forum set the stage perfectly. Honeyluv, Mark Knight, Nora En Pure, and Chris Lake were expertly mixed with seamless transitions, intricate beat patterns, and transcendental basslines that had everyone perfectly synchronized all night long.
Each artist brought their own unique sound, however, it was Swiss-South African DJ and deep house producer, Nora En Pure, who stole the show. As an artist known for her unique blend of deep house, melodic basslines, and atmospheric soundscapes, she surprised the crowd with her ability to create darker introspective energy. Using more minimalist, yet intricate basslines, she was able to keep the crowd on their deep underground journey, while still paying homage to her signature use of natural sounds and emotive melodies. Incorporating the notorious bird calls and ocean waves we know and love, she was able to transport the crowd to another world, while keeping her set both grounded and uplifting.
Building off the success of Foundation Volume 1, Volume 2 on Thursday, April 6th, 2023, will feature John Summit, Green Velvet, Eli & Fur, and Maine & Madam Lola. Though each artist brings their own unique sound and style, we’re especially stoked for Anjunadeep members, Eli & Fur (shout out to the mecca of record labels in deep melodic house and emotive electronica).
