Little Simz: Hip-Hop Powerhouse in Vancouver

London rapper Little Simz brought her ‘No Thank You’ Tour to the Commodore Ballroom for a sold out show. Wearing a button-down and tie, she meant business, delivering a highly anticipated show in earnest.

Kicking off her set promptly with ‘Silhouette’ and ‘No Merci’ from her latest album, she followed up with ‘Two Worlds Apart’ and ‘I Love You, I Hate You,’ Although topics such as mental health, guns and violence were featured as themes, she rapped with spiritual and joyous passion. Her contagious energy radiated throughout the venue, inspiring fans to move to the beat and rap along. She barely breaks a sweat juggling rapping her clever lyrics and interacting with fans standing in arms reach.

She is joined by her band half way through the show, continuing to carry that energy as she runs through the rest of her setlist. There was never a dull moment, performing more hits from her catalog from ‘Gorilla’ to ‘Point and Kill.’

With her energetic delivery and unforgettable performance, her set Friday night was a statement piece for the next generation of hip-hop.
